Doesn’t your relationship deserve some of the things you use to do for each other?

What have you done lately to maintain that spark in your relationship? What are some things you did in the past to make your partner feel special? Have you done those things lately?

For those of you who have been together for a long time; or have any built up resentment; have kids or a busy work schedule; or whatever life challenges; you have every right to use this as your excuse to not put in a conscious effort to nurture your relationship. No one said life would be easy, but they did say it would be rewarding.

In a relationship, the reward comes with you making a decision on the kind of relationship you want, owning that decision 100% and putting in a conscious effort to make it happen. If you want a healthy, romantic relationship with your partner for years to come, then know that it can’t happen if you use your excuses to justify taking the relationship for granted. It doesn’t matter who started it or who’s at fault. Put away the finger-pointing and be the one to step up to the plate.

The state of your relationship can effect everything else you do in life. So how important is it to you to keep your relationship healthy? Do you want to keep that spark alive with your partner? If your answer is yes, then it’s time to take a serious look at your relationship and do the things you use to do that made them feel special. What you use to do brought you two together, why stop doing those things now that you’re together?

Whatever change you decide to make to keep the spark in your relationship, you have to own that decision 100%, and have that change begin with you. Not the other way around. You can’t expect ripples to happen if you don’t first drop the pebble in the pond.

For some of you who have waited too long to realize this, you may feel awkward to start now. But don’t let that be yet another excuse. Just remember love is stronger than pride. If you love your partner, then step up to the plate, put aside your pride and be that romantically attentive person you use to be with him/her. Do it from your heart; this means do it without conditions or judgements, and just watch what comes back your way…
