Do you say one thing but do another – and don’t even know it?

I’m sure you all know someone who often say one thing but then do another - and sadly, they themselves don’t even know it.

I used to be this person and I didn’t even see it. Well, maybe deep down I kind of knew, but was too self-righteous and perhaps even in denial. I had rules and guards when it came to love. It had to be this way or that way (and come to think of it, mostly my way), or else it just wasn’t right!

Though I wasn’t that extreme, I know of people who are. And the older they get, if no one points it out or they choose not to see this on their own, sadly, the more stuck in their ways they become – therefore, for them, chances of finding a great long-term relationship is needless to say, slow to non-existent.

Back to when I used to say one thing and do another: I remember even saying I wasn’t afraid and would do anything for love – take big risks, but when push came to shove, I didn’t dare. I said I knew what I wanted, but I really didn’t. I said I would know when I saw or felt true love, but really, I was more confused when anything resembled that.

And yet, I thought I knew it all because after all, I was older and wiser after having a few long-term relationships, right? Lol. Wrong.

Well, that was then. This is now. I’ve changed so much. What I say and what I do is so much more in alignment than ever before. And it feels right! It feels empowering to be able to say I did what I said I would do. I took nerve-wrecking risks for love, made huge moves for love, gave up material things for love, loved fully even when I wasn’t loved the same way.

And doing all this has made me stronger and clearer about what works for me, and what doesn’t. And also, I would have never gotten to this point where I can write about it if I hadn’t put myself through the test – the test of loving with all my heart even when it hurt.

And so it is through my experience that I can now say with confidence that it’s marvelous to have loved fully than to never have loved fully at all. I hope you take this moment to think about the kind of relationship you truly want and do all the things you said you would do to achieve it. Do it with a smile on your face, and nothing but love in your heart...
